Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson was born in Paris France to British parents Jacqueline Luesby and Chris Watson, both lawyers. After relocating to Oxfordshire at the age of five, she enrolled in The Dragon School. From the age of six Emma was aware she would like to be an actress. For several years, she was a student at the Oxford Branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts a part-time theater school, where she learned singing dancing and acting. Her performances had been in a variety of Stagecoach as well as school plays when she turned ten. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2000) the movie adaptation of J.K. Rowling's bestselling British novel was first cast in 1999. Emma was initially discovered as a casting representative by her Oxford teacher of drama. David Heyman announced to Emma that after eight consecutive auditions, she as well as Rupert Grint were chosen as Hermione and Harry Potter. The release of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001) was Emma's first cinematic screen appearance. It was the highest-grossing film of 2001 it set new records in its first day opening and its opening weekend earnings. Critics gave high praise to the film, particularly those who were young. The Daily Telegraph praised Emma for her excellent performance. Emma was awarded the Young Artist Award as the leading young actress in a feature Film. Emma was awarded five times for her performance in the movie.
